CAN I TRY A CLASS BEFORE COMMITTING TO A COURSE?
Yes! If you are interested in Pilates and would like to come along to see what it’s all about, please get in touch to arrange to come to one of my sessions for a free no-obligation trial class, to see if you like it.
DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT?
I ask all participants to bring their own mat and either a thin pilates head pad or hand towel (which serves the same purpose). Any other equipment that we use from time to time will be provided. I have a couple of spare mats that I am happy to lend to anyone trying a free taster session, if you you do not have your own, and would like to try Pilates before buying your own.
DO I NEED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE OF PILATES?
It’s not necessary to have done Pilates before. All exercises we do in the classes are ‘layered’ – which means the exercises can be broken down into different levels or versions, so each person in the class will work at a level appropriate to their ability or experience and taking into account any injuries or medical conditions. Before you come along for your first class, I will send you an enrolment form to complete that lists any previous Pilates experience you have, as well as any injuries or medical conditions.
Beginners are very welcome in all of my classes.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN A CLASS?
I limit my classes to a maximum of 8 or 10 participants, depending on venue. This ensures everyone has a comfortable space to exercise, and enables me to give everyone sufficient attention.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE TO MISS A CLASS?
Don’t worry if you can’t come to all of the classes in the block. You can usually make up any classes that you have to miss by coming to one of my other classes that week instead, subject to space being available.
If you can’t make your usual class, I do ask that you let me know, so that I can offer any spare places to people who want to switch classes that week.
DO YOU OFFER ANY PAY-AS-YOU-GO SESSIONS?
All of my classes are primarily offered as a block or course of a fixed number of classes. This enables me to plan the course to progress the lessons over the weeks in the knowledge of the experience and ability of the participants.
However, I do understand that it is not always possible to commit to a full block, so any spare spots not taken up by block participants can be booked as ‘pay as you go’ spaces for £10 per class, providing you have completed a client enrolment form in advance. If you are interested in ‘pay as you go’, please contact me to discuss availability.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Wear something comfortable that doesn’t restrict movement. Most people find leggings and a t-shirt is ideal. Pilates works best with bare feet or socks, but no shoes. It is preferable not to wear anything too baggy or bulky, as this makes it harder for the teacher to check your posture and position for the exercises; but of course it is ultimately a matter of personal preference and comfort.
